Meet Mike Rooney

 

NCSA baseball recruiting expert Mike Rooney has plenty of experience on the diamond.

Rooney played at the University of Notre Dame from 1988 to 1992. While in college, he fielded six different positions and was a teammate of big leaguer Craig Counsell.

He went on to spend five years coaching at Malvern (Pa.) Prep before a joining the staff at Arizona State University. He served as an assistant coach and director of operations for the Sun Devils intermittently until 2009. Rooney was the head baseball coach at Phoenix College from 2005 to 2008, where he was twice named the school’s Male Sport Coach of the Year.

Rooney has spent time as a radio color commentator, and he’s also worked in television for FSN Arizona. He earned his master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Phoenix in 2000.

It’s safe to say that Mike Rooney’s well-rounded background makes him a valued member of the NCSA team.
